what to expect on a home consultation

When I arrive I will meet and get to know your family. We will discuss how your child’s day has gone. We will look at the sleep plan and go over it in detail. I will have a look at your child’s sleep environment and we can make any changes needed.

When it is almost sleep time I will assist you to prepare your child for sleep. I will demonstrate techniques like swaddling a newborn, or preparing a Sleep Rules poster and engaging in role play with a toddler. When your child is ready for bed I will talk you through the settling technique and help you understand when to change things up or when to give a little space. Together we will settle your child for sleep. I will demonstrate the technique we have chosen then coach you as you learn the technique. I help with re-settling when your child wakes and how to get your toddler back into bed when they come out.

On a home consultation I spend a lot of time answering questions and offering advice on all things sleep, child development, behaviour and parenting. You can pick my brain for the entire nap consultation and for a few hours during an overnight consultation!

On 12 hour overnight consultation I will need a place to sleep, a comfy couch with some warm blankets is fine! After we have settled your child to sleep or have given your baby their first overnight feed, we can all have some sleep then get up and do any overnight wake ups together.

2 or More Nights Stay-

If you choose for me to do all the sleep training then I will hold onto your child’s monitor and get up whenever they wake- you can catch up on some sleep! I do not recommend this for a 1 night stay, or you will not get the benefit of me coaching you in the technique. If you choose a 2 night stay a great option is for me to do all the wake ups on night one while you sleep, then for us to do them together on night two. I will leave at 6am and return at 6pm that night. If you would like me to do all of the sleep training then you can book me for 2 nights or more- price can be negotiated.
